Houston, we have a problem.
I have too much to say (shocker), and not enough time to do it. My editorial calendar is so jam-packed with awesome, half-finished posts. I am just bursting to share so many things with you.
Nonetheless, I’m magnanimously ignoring all of that today so I can share a round-up of some fantastic hotdrinks recipes. It has been a brutal month of cold weather for much of North America, with the mean ol’ Polar Vortex curling its icy tendrils south. It makes me want to curl up with some cold weather drinks and get my Hygge on.
Here, we’re pretty used to it, but that doesn’t mean I’m not already dreaming of spring. Tulips, warm rainy days, garden planting, grass growing… ok, that’s mean. I’ll stop.
But seriously, peeps. It has been a long winter thus far, and you are probably just as tired of your usual hot drinks go-to’s as I am. And you can tell Houston that we have a new problem: I’m FREEZING. I’m tired of wearing two pairs of socks. Time for some new hot drinks inspiration, amiright?!
Having a healthy hot drink in my hand helps me not hate winter so much. If you’re feeling my mood, here are 28 more reasons to love winter. It’s worth a try anyway.
Healthy Hot Drinks to Make at Home
Getting a Starbucks at the drive through can be convenient (sometimes), but it’s impossible to control the ingredients. And by the time we get through the line it’s often faster (and definitely cheaper!) to just make it at home.
I love that I can treat myself at home to hot drinks recipes that have ingredients I can pronounce and are actually healthy for me. We’re not skimping on any of the good stuff here!
You can have a PSL with real bonafide pumpkin in. Cider with decadent, homemade honey caramel sauce. Or treat yo’self to a french toast latte.
And I’m not talking about the conventional instant mixes. You won’t find any maltodextrin, corn syrup solids, or dipotassium phosphate here. It’s not only possible, but delicious to whip up a healthy warm drink at home.
It’s all about real nutrient-dense food, low or no sugar, and no crazy unpronouncable ingredients (I’m looking at you sodium aluminosilicate). Here are 50 new hot drinks recipes to tempt your tastebuds and warm your belly.
Stay warm, my loves!
