I pushed the red kill button and have not been able to restart bike. Battery ok, I cannot tell if the button is the issue. Took the bike in to the dealer it was the starter switch. $300 later the bike starts although it won't start with the clutch depressed and the kick stand down. I have never had an education on the way to start although before the new start switch was I replaced it would start with the clutch depressed. What's the deal my guess $300 does not guarantee the tech knew what he was doing and some conection is haywire. Since I have never had an operations guide I don't know if it is fixed or broken before that is, should the bike start in gear with the clutch depressed and stand down?

Does the button stick at all? Do you have a voltage meter? If so you could atleast verify voltage is getting to the switch. I upgraded from the possible faulty factory kill start button to the highway dirtbikes button setup and it's worked great for me.

You could also take off the switch assembly and look at the connections and clean them and try again.

We could not roll start the bike.
I looked at the switch cleaned the contacts nothing. When I was fooling with it as did not have a voltage metering

Since you cleaned the contacts you know that the kill switch is not momentary right? Push it once to lock in the kill position push it again to unlock to the run position. Just want to make sure you're not overlooking something simple.....

This happened to me last summer. Stopped by the road side for a water break. Kill switch, key off. When I went to start the bike, kill switch on, key on, nothing. After taking the bike apart, checking all fuses, connections and anything else I could think of, someone stopped to lend a hand. We tried to push start, nothing. We look at each other. He had jumpers - why not.

When we went to connect the negative to my bike, we realized the terminal screw was loose. The threads weren't stripped. It had just loosened up. Tightened it up - bike starts!

I now check my terminals every time the seat is off. Maybe . . .

Sometimes you get lucky, and the fix is very simple and cheap (tighten a bolt).

One of the greatest things about the DR is that complicated things don't regularly break (with a few notable exceptions)
