TROPICAL WEDDING INSPO WITH EDGE (2024)

Autumn might be in full swing but we’re still hanging on to those tropical vibes. This modern styled shoot with repurposed vintage dresses, ombre veils, colourful pampas grass, neon lights and an edgy industrial backdrop, is the perfect inspiration for couples wanting to add a touch of colour to their weddings.

“Castle View Farm & Stables is based in a village outside Market Harborough, Leicestershire. It’s a working farm outside of wedding season so the barn, courtyard and fields provide a number of different options as a wedding venue.” Photography, Vicki told us.

“The barn is ideal for a celebrant wedding and your guests can spill out afterwards into the courtyard for welcome drinks. The courtyard is a fabulous space for socialising throughout the day and into the evening. It’s perfect for a variety of food trucks and entertainment as there is plenty of space. The barn also has a cool balcony overlooking the countryside – perfect for drinks with a view!” She explained.

“To match our modern, tropical palm beach vibe, we opted for a colour palette of pinks and orange built upon a base of lush green tones. This allowed for accents of neon pink & orange as well as large, oversized palm leaves. Splashes of gold against more natural tones. We knew from the start that the colour palette was key to pull all the various elements together. The pinks and oranges also allowed us to incorporate more fun elements & get some truly unique touches woven into the day.”

The design was pulled together by Linzi at That black & white cat weddings & Vicki from Vicki Clayson Photography.

“We wanted to pull together a modern, tropical vibe with bright colours and fun! Hannah from Green and Wild Flowers was key to the style and brought along large tropical leaves with contrasting oranges and pinks including pink pampas grass.” Vicki continued.

“There were some eco-friendly upcycled elements showing how to really embrace this idea into a wedding. These included the vintage dresses from the talented Bexbrides and hand painted shoes from Inanna Bespoke Shoes. Becca from To Be Adorned provided a pair of eco raffia earrings which had been carefully crocheted by hand and embellished with pearl beads upcycled from vintage costume jewellery. The white mesh backdrop was previously shop fittings and was upcycled with a splash of white spray paint.”

“The dresses by Bex Brides were original 1970s dresses updated with more modern necklines or made into contemporary separates. Bex also provided a range of accessories which really fitted with the idea of adding colour to the day. Her ombre veils and overskirts are a simple and affordable way to add an alternative edge to Bridal wear and can be done in so many colours that we just had to include them in the shoot.”

“We also really wanted to show that the groom could have some fun with his outfit as men’s wear is often a second thought compared to the importance of the Brides dress. We combined a dark green jacket purchased from Asos with the incredible unique accessories made by Francis & Louise. Her tropical design on the bowties and pocket squares were just perfect for the theme, really adding something special to the Grooms outfit. The designs are made from her original artwork, which is hand painted, and no piece is the same, so they really add a unique element to any outfit.”

“The brides bold make up & hair from KOllective by Kelly O’dell with the fun, bridal mohawk a definite highlight. It brought that alternative contemporary yet still bridal look and paired with a very wearable soft smokey eye. It felt young and fresh and fun and suited the theme.”

“Lou of Inanna Bespoke Shoes created some hand painted shoes especially for the shoot. Working with bright colour is a passion of Lou’s, often using bright and bold hues to create wearable art shoes for brides who can’t get excited about bland pairs available off the shelf.”

“Debbie Gillespie’s cake design actually came from seeing the wonderfully bright shoe design that Inanna Bespoke shoes created. She decided to go with a monochrome backdrop to really make the brighter colours pop. The painting was done with edible dusts mixed with cocoa butter and it was finished off with sugar frangipanis and hibiscus to match. And the flamingo topper, well why not add a little fun!”

“Laura of Hatton & Co created an incredible perspex table plan and numbers using neon paint combined with handwritten modern calligraphy, all arranged on the white mesh screen which looked amazing combined with the florals but together by Hannah. The invites she created were kept fairly neutral but with pops of colour coming from some gorgeous envelopes, tassels and wax seals.”

“Jessica from the Biscuit Tin produced bespoke, watercolour biscuits which could also be used as place names. These sat perfectly against the lush green colour palette and the wedding stationery set from Laura at Hatton and Co.”
