At last, the first collaboration between Issey Miyake and New Balance is ready to hit shelves. Revealed last September at Paris Fashion Week (Women’s) for Spring/Summer 2024 during Issey Miyake’s runway show, the duo have created the MT10O — a modern take on the New Balance Minimus Trail (MT10) from 2011.
“Inspired by the concept of sensuous physicality and barefoot mobility,” the MT10O mimics the shape of a foot, reducing its height and bulk. Despite this, the natural shape still carries trail running elements with its unique construction. The durable Vibram-backed outsole emphasizes grip with its protruding shapes while the midsole utilizes a thin layer of cushioning. As for the upper, it balances a lightweight mesh with leather detailing. A cord-like shoelace and snug interior keep one’s foot in place, even on uneven terrain. As for the colorways, “White,” “Black” and “Blue Green” serve as the trio of options, offering monochromatic makeovers that are accented by yellow Vibram branding at the lateral midfoot.
Release for the Issey Miyake x New Balance MT10O in its three colorways of “White,” “Black” and “Blue Green” is set to begin on May 15 via select retailers in Japan. From there, a launch is scheduled to occur on June 14 at select stores worldwide.
