Stream It Or Skip It: ‘Who Likes My Follower?’ on Netflix, A Reality Dating Lark That Speaks The Language Of Online Love
Dating Around is the latest reality TV sensation from Netflix, the streaming service that has basically no reality programming a year ago. Now it’s practically conquered the genre with the Emmy-winning Queer Eye, the hilarious Nailed It!, and the hot-takes-generating Tidying Up with Marie Kondo. Dating Around marks Netflix’s first foray into the reality dating show sub-genre. If you’re a fan of small talk and don’t find blind dates to be excruciatingly awkward, then Dating Around is a must-watch.
Each episode of Dating Around follows a different single as they go on five dates. Each date takes place at the same locations on different nights, and they’re all edited together to appear like one long super date. At the end of each episode, the single picks one of the five to go on a second date with, and love presumably blossoms from there.
But as with any dating show, you’re gonna leave every single episode wondering if true love really did blossom from this TV show. Even though the title implies that all these dates are totally casually, we just can’t help hoping that every single one of these couples will be together forever. We’re all romantics! If you’re looking for an update on where all the couples are now, Episode 1’s Victoriarevealed in an Instagram comment that Netflix is going to release an update at some point. But you don’t have to wait to find out the fates of all of these romances, not when there’s Instagram!
Episode 1: Luke and Victoria
Dating Around kicks off with Luke, a southern gentleman with model good looks and a mysterious quality, looking for love. He hits it off with Victoria, a self-described Masshole (she’s from Massachusetts) with a bold sense of humor. He works in real estate, she works at a tech startup, and it turns out they both work well together. At least, that’s what we think when the episode ends after their surprisingly cinematic sunset meet-up for a second date. But are Luke and Victoria still together?
It doesn’t look like it, but don’t feel bad for either of them. Victoria seems to be in a relationship (that coupley pic is definitely from after they filmed Dating Around) and Luke’s got a dope job. The two still seem to be friends, though; you can peep some heart emoji comments from Luke on this Insta post.
Episode 2: Gurki
Gurki’s a fiercely independent single woman living in New York City and working as a jewelry buyer for Barney’s. After going on four perfectly pleasant dates and enduring quite possibly the most tense moment in Netflix’s short reality TV history during her date with Justin, Gurki ends the episode by choosing to be with… no one. Can you blame her? Good on Gurki for knowing what she wants! There’s one question viewers probably have after this twist ending: is Gurki still single?
There’s no update to be found on Gurki’s post-Dating Around love life on Instagram, but you can find some insight into what shooting the show was like.
Episode 3: Lex and Cory
His friends call him the “Asian James Dean” due to his classic tough guy style, and production designer Lex lives up to that description. He does, however, reveal himself to be a bit of a softie during the episode, especially where Cory is concerned. They bonded over coming out stories, as Cory revealed he had a crisis of faith while studying religion in college. Lex chose Cory for a second date, but did they go for a third or fourth or seventeenth?
It looks like Lex and Cory are still single, or at least not dating each other. But that doesn’t mean the Dating Around experience was worthless. In fact, Lex is now friends with two of the guys he didn’t choose: Jonathan and Peter!

Episode 4: Leonard and Dianna
Widower Leonard won our hearts with his sweet demeanor–maybe because the guy’s really an ex-lawyer and practicing private eye who’s done LSD before! Leonard was full of surprises. By the end of the episode, he chose to go on another date with Dianna, the divorced mother of three who taught him some sign language. So, are Leonard and Dianna still together?
It’s pretty hard to find this info out because neither Leonard nor Dianna have Instagram accounts. You’d need to hire a private investigator in order to find out what’s going on in this private investigator’s love life!
Episode 5: Sarah and Matt
A Seinfeld fan with romance on her mind, Sarah’s got way more edge and quirky charm than you’d expect from a recruiter for data scientists. She ultimately chooses to go on a second date with Matt, a web designer that knows what women want: a can of Narragansett in a paper bag. They hit it off on the show, but are Sarah and Matt still together?
Whether or not Sarah and Matt are still dating is a mystery, but they’re at least still friends. You can check out the comments on one of Matt’s recent posts, where he calls Sarah “wonderful,” “great,” and “pretty freaking cool”–and also Sarah chimes in too.
Episode 6: Mila and Charlotte
The super fashionable Mila works as an editorial makeup artist (recently featured in Vogue, what!) and she hits it off with professional party thrower Charlotte. They even share ice cream in the rain, which is totally out of a romcom. They shared a kiss at the end of the episode, but are Mila and Charlotte still dating?
They are not! Charlotte’s in a totally committed relationship with someone else. As Charlotte said in an Insta comment, she started dating her current girlfriend right after the date and that kinda nixed even the potential for friendship. But good news for Mila: she also found a girlfriend who she’s been with for six months, which she revealed in a comment on Instagram. So there are happy new chapters for Mila and Charlotte, just not the same one.
